Sanatçı Konuşmaları: Aslı Çavuşoğlu

1982 İstanbul doğumlu sanatçı Marmara Üniversitesi Sinema ve Televizyon Bölümü mezunu.
Çalışmalarını bir senedir İstanbul Platform Garanti Güncel Sanat Merkezi'nde İstanbul Misafirleri Programı kapsamında sürdüren Aslı Çavuşoğlu en son Masa'da "Caiet de Geografie" isimli, Romanya'da geçirdiği 2 aylık zamanını, turistler sayesinde Komünizm Müzesi haline gelmiş bir Balkan ülkesi deneyimini aktardığı işini sergiledi.
Sanatçı Ocak Ayı sanatçı konuşmaları kapsamında çalışmalarıyla ilgili bir sunum gerçekleştirecek.

1982 born artist has been graduated from the Cinema & Television Department of Marmara University. Cavuşoglu, who has been in the residency program of the Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center for a year, has recently showed her book; “Caiet de Geografie” in Masa Contemporary Art Venue. In “Caiet de Geografie”, the artist indicates her experiences of the two months residency program in Romania, and explores a Balkanian country that has became an open Post Comunism Museum.
The artist is going to make a presentation about her recent and previous works and talk about her practices.

Misafir Odası sergileri projenin 3. Ayağı olan Nur Muşkara Sergisiyle devam ediyor.

Halil Vurucuoğlu ve Bahar Oganer’in katılımıyla gerçekleşen ikinci sergiden sonra yeni sergi de kent coğrafyasına dair bir bakışı gündeme getirmekte.

Nur Muşkara’nın fotoğrafik imge seçimleri içerisinde izleyiciyi çok da aşina olduğu kentsel görüntülere yeniden bakmaya iten bir şey var. Nedir bu? Bir şekilde modern şehir yaşantısını yeniden deneyimleyebilmek. Nur’un işerinde, kent, alıştığımız ana alterler ya da damarlarda akmaz, o tamamen farklı güzergâhlar ve rotalar çizmektedir izleyiciye, ya da hergün önünden geçtigimiz caddeye farklı bir biçimde bakmayı önerir. Bunu yaparken Nur bir belge fotografçısıyla, bir 19.yy flaneur’ü arasında durur, kent içerisinde serbest bir biçimde sürüklenir ve onu bir oyun alanı olarak yeniden kurgular.

İşlek bir liman şehrinin körfezinde denize girenler, atık kâğıt-cam toplanan çöp arabasından çıkan çocuklar, Nur bir biçimde izleyiciyi de bu fotograflardaki oyuna ortak eder. Sanatçı işlerini “ilgimi çekenler kente dair sistemin ürettiği, onun bünyesinde fakat ona rağmen ve ona karşı olan varolma biçimleri” olarak tanımlarken şehirde farklı bir biçimde varolma olanakları üzerinde durmaktadır.

Nur Muşkara’nın işlerini sadece bir tespit olarak değil sanatçının şehirde dolanma ve kendine özgü bir kent haritası çıkarma adına gerçekleştirdiği performansların fotografik belgelenmesi olarak da bakılabilir. Ancak fotograflarda da izleyiciyi bekleyen bir takım oyunlar var. Terkedilmiş eski havagazı fabrikası, mağrur bir şato gibi görkemli bir panoramada yeralmakta fakat sadece bu da değil işin ismi de Nur’un burası için düşündüğü farklı şeyler de olduğunun ipuçlarını verir; “Annem çay yapmış”

Sanatçı kentin bir zamanlar işlek ve yaşayan fakat şimdilerde merkezden uzaklaştırılmış ve tekinsizleştirilmiş mekânları için çok da evcil bir dille yazdığı bu slogan ufak bir oyun ve umudu da barındırır ve izleyiciyi de bu coğrafi deneyime davet eder.

“Misafir Odası Projesi”, güncel sanatın İzmir çapında disiplinler arası sınırlama getirmeksizin sunumlarına olanak vermek adına AKM ile ortak geliştirilmiş bir projedir. Bu kapsamda mekan, fotoğraf sanatından, video çalışmalara, resim sanatının güncel örneklerine, çizimden, enstalasyona kadar vizyonu olabildiğince açık ve dinamik bir yapının ev sahipliğini hedeflemektedir.

The 3rd Episode of the Guest Room hosts the exhibition of Nur Muşkara.

After the 2nd exhibition with Halil Vurucuoğlu and Bahar Oganer, this new exhibition also focuses on the different zones of the contemporary city geography.

In the photographic work of Nur Muşkara, there is something which urges the audience to relook at the very familiar contemporary city imagery. What is the motive here? In the opportunity to re-experience contemporary city life. In the works of Nur, city doesn’t flow in the frequent vessels and arteries but it draws the audience to different routes and offers us to relook at the common places with a newer gaze. With doing this Nur stands in a point between a documentary photographer and a 19th century flaneur; she drifts in the city freely and reconstructs it as a playground.

With the use of images like, people swimming in the bay of a busy commercial city, boys getting out of a scavengers trolley, Nur challenges the viewer with the exceptional occasions and games within these phorograps. “What draws my attention here, are the conformations, which are the unwanted results of the contemporary city, but survive despite this system” by characterising her works with these remarks, the artist emphasises the alternative ways of existance in the city life.

The works of Nur Muskara can be read not only as fixation of situations and things which eludes our notice, but also a photographic documentation of her walks in the city in order to make an alternative city map. Besides there are some tricks and games, awaiting the viewer, in these images. The abondened gas factory, has not only been portrait as a vain castle, standing in a splendid panorama but also its title is a tricky one: “My mother has made the tea”

These causy remarks for places, that used to be busy and standing but now decentralised and uncanny, bears a playful hope, and encourages the viewer to redefine city maps and zones.

“The Guest Room Project”, which is a collaborative event with AKM, aims to create an open platform for young cotemporary artists to present and to discuss about their practices.
